Our Farm...
The farm consists of
272 acres located about 10 miles Northwest of Neillsville, Wisconsin.
The 84 cows are milked twice a day in a conventional tie stall barn.
All of the forages and much of the dry corn is grown on the farm.
A Virginia Polytech type heifer facility (featured below),
which houses approximately 70 head, was constructed in the spring
of 1999. The "double-gate" system allows the facility to be
very labor friendly.
Most of the labor force
consists of Denny and Cindy, along with two employees. Brian helps out by doing I.V.'s on sick cows and
with field work when he can. Brian also owns several
cows in the herd. Quite a few are his own homebred animals,
but in the past few years he has purchased several head from Dupasquier
Holsteins Guelph, Ontario, Canada. One of his purchases, Dupasquier
Starbuck Sylvia, (also below) was a daughter of Boalcrest
Sterling Silver, who was Supreme Champion at World Dairy Expo in 1997.
Sylvia's record: 7-1 365 44218 3.7 1618 3.1 1387. Although no longer in the
herd, Silvia has left us with many productive offspring.
